1935 publication, was there a notice or renewal for this?

  • Keep according to the data, these are digitized by the Internet Archive from source material dated 1898. That would correspond to the time of the Sunset Limited train. However, looking carefully at the images, there are some dated other years (such as 1914, 1935, etc.) in lower part of the print image, even though the file data says 1898. There were no airplanes in 1898, and the Aunt Jemima logo is post Anna Robinson (starting in 1933). It would only be a guess that these are from a 1935 book about the Sunset Limited containing advertisements dating back to 1898. Nevertheless, any copyright on the images would have long expired. Only the compilation could be copyright.

  • Mutter Erde: There are other images beyond the advertisements, so it is valuable to determine the copyright status of the whole for this purpose. William Allen Simpson: This issue was published in 1935; 1898 refers to the date of publication of the first volume, not of this volume. The fact of the incorrect date being given for a specific volume is due the importation script. Although there is no copyright notice apparent in the scan provided here, the copyright was registered,[1] and that copyright was timely renewed;[2] thus, the entire work is still under copyright, and should be deleted. In addition, it appears from my preliminary search of the records that most, if not all, issues of Sunset Magazine were appropriately renewed; thus, if there are others uploaded here, they needs must also be deleted.  Keep {{PD-US-no notice}}, all of them are scans of previous publications. Fma12 (talk) 13:28, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TE(æ)A,ea.: other contributors (see above) have already given their opinions and explanations about the expired copyrighted, I don't want to be redundant. Fma12 (talk) 18:30, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see one comercial File:Sunset (1898) (14590766138).jpg, this should be kept as it is not directly part of the book itself and is probably (not) copyrighted seperatly. But in general shoudl be delted per user Tea.--Sanandros (talk) 21:13, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination, discussion and COM:PRP, as this is most likely still copyrighted. --Rosenzweig τ 21:52, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored some ads as they are apparently not copyrighted. If someone disagrees, re-nominate them along with the rest of the ads left in Category:Internet Archive document sunset74jansout. --Rosenzweig τ 22:00, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
