[edit]

The category is in the Category:Candidates for speedy deletion but deletion of there files were very slow. Leonel Sohns (talk) 19:26, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cropped images missing parent page.

Leonel Sohns (talk) 19:17, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Parent page File:La Generalitat signa un conveni marc amb CCOO.jpg shouldn't been deleted because it was published on the website of the Generalitat de Catalunya gencat.cat (source). See Template:Attribution-gencat/en. Please, 1) Restore File:La Generalitat signa un conveni marc amb CCOO.jpg and 2) don't delete File:La Generalitat signa un conveni marc amb CCOO (cropped).jpg. Thanks --Davidpar (talk) 19:26, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't get it what's wrong with File:JIRCAS Niamey view II crop.jpg. Both the original source and the transferred non-cropped image are listed on the file description page. --Funke (talk) 19:32, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Same with the second file File:Goulding, Staples Center, Los Angeles, 8th April 2016 (31) - cropped.jpg it is also reviewed by a license reviewer.
I think the best would be close this DR, check the files one by one and make a new DR with the files that does actually have an issue. --MGA73 (talk) 19:55, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I hadn't read the DR and with all due respect it wasn't my place to (my !vote above should've been what the nominator had said), I've struck those 2 files as per your reply. –Davey2010Talk 00:50, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davey2010: But File:Ghaqr F Missile at the Anniversary of Islamic Revolution 2018 02).jpg HAS a source and it IS REVIEWED! Just because someone delete the uncropped version with a bad reason does not mean we should delete the cropped version.
And the uncropped version of File:Goulding, Staples Center, Los Angeles, 8th April 2016 (31) - cropped.jpg was deleted because of the derivative work in the background. And since the background has been cropped away there is no valid reason to delete the crop.
The files should have been checked before they were nominated for deletion. As it has clearly been demonstrated there are just too many mistakes in this DR. --MGA73 (talk) 05:20, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
MGA73 - Inregards to point 1 - far point, That did indeed escape my notice so I've struck that,
The Goulding image should've been struck yesterday as it caught my attention it was another DW crop but struck now
I absolutely agree had the nominator bothered to do all this themselves there wouldn't be any problems, I simply figured whilst we're all here we may aswell continue with the DR,
I will also add at the time of writing this !vote I was busy with other things so my attention wasn't 100% unfortunately,
Anyway if there's any more files above that shouldn't be there feel free to strike them, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 11:53, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Parent page File:La Generalitat signa un conveni marc amb CCOO.jpg is now credited properly, pending review. It was published on the website of the Generalitat de Catalunya gencat.cat (source). See Template:Attribution-gencat/en. --Davidpar (talk) 21:19, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay let me take another one: File:Jai Akash (cropped).JPG was deleted because it was "Possible COM:ADVERT COM:NOTSOCIAL and COM:NOTHOST". I do of course agree that we should not fill up Commons with stuff that is not usable. But the photo is in use and therefore in scope. Do you really think that we should delete a photo that is in use because the original oploader uploaded a bit too many photos? The same apply for File:Karthi Sivakumar (cropped).jpg and File:Keerthi Chawla (cropped).JPG. --MGA73 (talk) 05:16, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The images weren't deleted because "the original oploader uploaded a bit too many photos", These were deleted as I assume the main photos were of people holding a book (ie trying to promote the book), Given the book's not present in any of the images and given the images are of notable people I personally don't see a reason to delete so have struck, Thanks,. –Davey2010Talk 11:34, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davey2010: The exact reason was not stated in the DR. Anyway personally I think the relevant is if the photo is usable and not what the motive of the uploader was. Happy you agree on keeping the files in use. It seems that only 1 file is left now and it is being discussed in another DR because there may be FOP issues. So I think there is nothing left here to discuss. Just a little cleanup perhaps :-) --MGA73 (talk) 11:56, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • In future Leonel Sohns please nominate files and state why for each file (like I have done above), It saves everyone having to come back here time and time again, If you fail to nominate in this way again then I will simply speedy close your DR. –Davey2010Talk 11:37, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: per others, too heterogeneous to be batch processed. --Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:31, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
