In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for 70 years after the death of the creator. An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception freedom of panorama (FOP). Unfortunately there is no applicable FOP exception in Belgium. The station is apparently from 1985, see w:Herrmann-Debroux metro station.

Now a question is - is this proposition valid for interiors as well? I mean, I do not want to be a false prophet, but I won Belgian WLM (8th Place as far as I remember) with a picture of a train station inside. The jury had to discuss the FoP issue there, but they concluded this is acceptable. Do you have any legal info on this?

(In the meantime, I am travelling to Brussels to discuss the FoP problem right now - editing from an airport hall) --Aktron (talk) 06:41, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Then all files in Category:Art in MIVB station had to deleted, as the first section was opened in 1969, right? -- 87.123.141.82 09:57, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Copyright protection applies to both building interiors and building exteriors. When nominating pictures of rooms in a building, you need to consider whether the room itself meets the threshold of originality as a room might not meet the threshold of originality even if the building itself does. However, these pictures show a couple of sculptures and a wall painting which are clearly copyrightable. --Stefan2 (talk) 16:42, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
