This also covers the following file -- which needn't be deleted entirely, just have Elmo cropped out: File:Elmo and STS-135 Commander Chris Ferguson.jpg

I have no strong feelings about the other images, and am actually inclined to agree that they're copyright violations, but I support keeping File:Elmo-cockpit xltn.jpg, because it's a government image and satisfies that requirement. Christine 22:18, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
According to my understanding, the fact that the government published the photo does not override the copyright holder's rights. The government photo itself may be in the public domain, but the contents of the photo are still under copyright. If we want to blank Elmo out of the photo, that would be legal..but, I think, hardly useful. -Pete F (talk) 21:12, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
