Because it is Other Quovadit (talk) 19:45, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Quovadit: I agree with @François GOGLINS.
What do you mean by "Because it is Other" ? Other what... ?
Not the right place (city of Thou) ? Not a war memorial ? A protected monument ? Could you please be more precise. Thx. --Poudou99 (talk) 21:13, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Pour quelle raison vous voulez supprimer ce monument aux morts...??? C'est un monument classique comme on en trouve des centaines en France --Philweb (talk) 12:57, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 Comment The original rationale "Because it is other" is pure nonsense. But there is no freedom of panorama in France and maybe the sculpture is protected with copyright. We must consider two aspects. This is obviously pre-WWII monument, created before 1939 and older than 80 years. If the sculpture is anonymous, then it is free from copyright, and if the sculptor died before 1949, then it is also free from copyright. At second, it is claimed, that the sculpture does not surpass threshold of originality. I am not convinced, although it is really not particularly complex. Hi @Taivo: , you are right, this war memorial has been build juster after the end of WAR I.
Like for all french cities, more than 30000 war memorials have been erected between 1919 and 1924. Many of them (for small cities like the one we are discussing) are very simple and built by local stonecutter; on the basis of a common model. Only great cities, or famous cities or very rich cities or having had thousands of dead had asked to famous sculptors the built a of beautiful war memorial momuments. Very few of these sculptors have died for less than 70 years. --Poudou99 (talk) 16:52, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: I note that the monument has two deaths from WWII, but I think those were added long after the monument was first erected. I agree that this was made by an anonymous local stonecutter and is therefore PD. .     Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 21:58, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
