Mickey is public domain, but Pluto is not. Undelete in 2026. SDudley (talk) 16:07, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Delete per the same logic as Commons:Deletion requests/File:MickeyStomach MadDoctor1933.png, though not for the same reason of course. (Oinkers42) (talk) 22:36, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Delete - see also Commons:Deletion requests/File:The Mad Doctor (1933).webm. Note that Pluto wasn't established as Mickey's pet nor given his name until 1931, so I think the proper undeletion date is 2027, unless there's some other element we're missing. -BRAINULATOR9 (TALK) 02:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Delete Pluto probably makes the undeletion date 2027, as mentioned. However, "Mickey Mouse" is not free. Only Mickey Mouse as seen in 1928 films is now free. Subsequent movies can add more elements to a "character", so there can be many layers to the character which will expire one by one. Obviously, any additions made by the Mad Doctor itself became public domain long ago, but if it's making use of any intermediate additions to the character, it could still be a bit derivative. I think there were some significant changes to how Mickey was drawn in 1929, which this movie would embody (though those would be PD next year). The modern drawing of Mickey Mouse can't be used for a long, long time. But, the Pluto character probably means this movie can't be uploaded until 2027. Non-Pluto screenshots may be OK next year. - Good note on the Pluto elements to consider. Will move forward with those considerations. SDudley (talk) 14:39, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
Isn't this specific short in the Public Domain because Copyright was not renewed? If so it should be free to post regardless of whether Pluto is in it or not.Nevermind, I just read the other discussions and I was wrong.2A0D:3344:1703:9510:24A7:831F:CB28:9AA9 17:01, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
