No authorship information, unknown copyright situation. No indication that the author would have died before 1948. Jcb (talk) 16:56, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- Informations deleted by User:Habitator terrae without reason. Triton (talk) 20:43, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- First {{PD-old}} is a license, not a source. Second you cannot use PD-old if you don't know who the author was. Jcb (talk) 20:45, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- So you will delete every pictures of people living in the 19th century under the pretexte you don't know the author (which is the case in most of it)? And since Paul Hallez is born in 1846 it is almost impossible to have a picture of him in his 30 (so taken around 1880) which doesn't respect PD-old. I understand we have to respect copyright but these kind of case, difficul to prove and here solely to inform people, will never bother anyone. Triton (talk) 21:01, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- "will never bother anyone" is a non-accepted argument here. If we don't know who the author was and the work is probably less than 120 years old, we consider that there are good chances that the author was still alive in 1948, so that PD-old cannot be applied. Jcb (talk) 21:05, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- "the work is probably less than 120 years old" is almost certainly not the case here. The picture is obviously older than 1898 (Hallez been younger than 52 on it) Triton (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- You can't tell from this picture, could be 70 as well. Jcb (talk) 21:57, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- Of course he is not 70 on this picture, a little of honesty please. Triton (talk) 22:32, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- You can't tell from this picture and we have nothing to compare, I found no other pictures of this person. Jcb (talk) 22:39, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- I can't find any other either. It's not especially surprising considering he is "only" a 19th century scientist. But you can certainly estimate the age of somebody trough a picture, even of bad quality. Triton (talk) 00:30, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
- Estimating someones age is always difficult, even if the person is alive and right in front of you. I remember my grandfather being estimated 55 while he was around 85. The only way to make a reliable estimation from such a picture is if you would have reference material. E.g. if you would have a picture of this person from around 1900 with a bald head, you would know that this picture would be from earlier. But as far as I am aware none of us has been able to find such reference material yet. Jcb (talk) 11:29, 24 June 2018 (UTC)

I didn't delet information. You could see the PD-old as a licence, second it wasn't vandalism and third when it should be stay there we should turn PD-old into PD-old-assumed. Habitator terrae (talk) 08:34, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
