Although the uploader stated that this image (or image elements) are not copyrighted, i'm nominating this image for deletion as a copyrighted magazine cover. Smooth_O (talk) 09:14, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Speedy Delete, and I've tagged it as such. This is a blatant copyright violation. Yes, the painting is old and out of copyright. The cover of the magazine includes copyrightable elements that are not out of copyright. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:50, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Keep This is not a copyvio for the reasons mentioned in the license section. The photograph on the cover is a faithful reproduction of a 2D artwork, and therefore public domain in the United States (see Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag). The only other elements are a bit of text, which is too simple to be copyrighted (see Commons:Threshold of originality). InverseHypercube 23:04, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Comment The logo clearly meets the threshold of originality, and it'll be a hard case to argue that it's DM since the whole point of the image is to show a National Geographic cover. Maybe if the logo were censored by being blurred, the rest (including layout, text, etc.) will fall below it. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 06:35, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- migrate to en:wikipedia "non-free cover" Slowking4⇔ †@1₭ 23:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Delete Contains copyrighted logo. Also the complete layout of this frontpage seems to meet the threshold of originality in my opinion: the head of the reproduction goes over the "National Geographic" headers, while other elements stay below it. That is more than just dumping a text over a 2d-reproduction. Lymantria (talk) 07:13, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
