Map with no source (the creator said it was copied from somewhere else), no year: there is no way to know if the data is accurate or reliable Skimel (talk) 21:53, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Speedy keep per COM:INUSE and COM:NPOV, unless you can show us where "the creator said it was copied from somewhere else" (I assume you don't mean "This file has been extracted from another file
World blank map.png", which is no problem at all) and be very specific about a copyright problem. Content disputes are irrelevant on Commons. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:36, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Ikan Kekek, here is a conversation I had with the creator of the map on the file talkpage:

@Zorion: , what are the sources for this map? It gives very precise precentage of English native speakers. Which censuses (of which years) have been used? I think it's crucial to provide theses informations, since the map is widely used. Otherwise there is a risk of spreading incorrect, outdated or false informations. Thanks ;) Skimel (d) 10:21, 17 December 2019 (UTC)

@Skimel: I tried to find out on Internet where were the informations two years ago, the map cause I had just copied it, and I have got nothing. --Zorion (d) 18:25, 25 December 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. Why did you wait almost 4 years to request deletion? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:28, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikan Kekek because I was hoping there could be a better option, or that someone would come with the sources. I recently came across this file again, and seeing that nothing had changes, decided to start a deletion process. Skimel (talk) 09:55, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:58, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Finally I found the source on this page -- Zorion eko 21:39, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Zorion Unfortunately, this is not a source, but a simple pdf presentation which uses the map, without any indication, label, caption or anything. Did you use this pdf to create your map? Skimel (talk) 22:39, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember to be honest. There are thousand maps on commons "without any indication, label, caption or anything". you seem obsessed with deleting this image which at first glance, even if it has no source, seems reliable. I'm not continuing this conversation anymore.  Zorion eko 23:45, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of reliable files have copyright problems. I think the copyright issue and not the content is what's problematic here. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:46, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: License is OK, in use. --Yann (talk) 15:31, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
