- This is a copyright-free image since it is an information (mascot character) in the Aichi Prefectural Police's official government website and other Aichi Police's vehicles are freely available to download at https://www.pref.aichi.jp/police/syokai/kids/download/ Candleblox (talk) 16:59, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Candleblox That is not how copyright works, please see COM:NETCOPYRIGHT ("The fact that an image has been posted to a publicly-available website does not give you implied permission to re-use it nor to upload it here.") And mascot characters can absolutely be copyrighted. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 17:11, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- As I said, this is a image made on a government website as Government of Japan Standard Terms of Use states. Candleblox (talk) 17:17, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Candleblox Where on the website does it say that the Standard Terms of Use apply? All I see is [1], which translates (via Google) to "Photographs, illustrations, images, texts, etc. (hereinafter referred to as "contents") posted on this site are subject to copyright protection and are protected by international treaties, copyright laws, etc. All rights to the content belong to the Aichi Prefectural Police or the original author, and the content may not be reproduced or quoted without permission, except in specific cases permitted by copyright law, such as "reproduction for private use" or "quotation." you can't."; it does not say that this site has the Standard Terms of Use. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 19:30, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- The correct translation says that it could be used as a citation/quote (愛知県警察又は原著作者に帰属し、「私的使用のための複製」や「引用」など著作権法上認められた特定の場合を除き), so I personally think that applies here since Google Translate is unfortunately not that accurate. Candleblox (talk) 19:54, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
