Fake image taken from untrustworthy russian site liveinternet.ru. This is black-and-white version of Giuseppe Sarti's portrait by Salvatore Tonci: File:Giuseppe Sarti (1729-1802).jpg Hoa binh (talk) 06:28, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Keep There's zero evidence that the image is a fake whatever that means. There's a chance it's just another version of the portrait. That is something that happens, people make other versions of portraits. It's not really a reason to delete something. Especially not just because it's hosted on a Russian website. Really, save the anti-Russian nonsense for another platform. --Adamant1 (talk) 11:55, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep and rename. The attribution is incorrect, good detective work. I went ahead and renamed it, the old name should be deleted to prevent confusion, after the thread is closed. --RAN (talk) 04:58, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): I know you deleted your comment about it so feel free to not answer this if you don't want to, but where do think the line is between a derivative work and a straight up "fake"? --Adamant1 (talk) 18:44, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • It looks like it is a misattribution by the Russian website. The website I now link to has the following information: "Portrait painted in 1873 by Cesare Mussini, after the original painting by Salvatore Tonci (Modern Gallery of the Pitti Palace) DR." It recognizes that it is a copy of the first painting, and you cleverly recognized the error. Some errors sit for years in Commons, thank you for fixing it. -RAN (talk) 19:19, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: per RAN. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:21, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
