- I'm not an expert on these things, or I wouldn't have uploaded it in the first place, however archive.org says "no visible notice of copyright; stated date is 1920." Pelirojopajaro (talk) 18:56, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- Archive.org is based in the United States. It is free per US law, but not per British law. Per Commons policy, we pay attention to copyright in the home country. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:22, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- Delete First published in the UK with no evidence of concurrent US publication; and so in copyright in the country of origin and other pma. 70 countries until 2031, but public domain in the US as published more than 95 years ago. This means it is eligible for hosting on English Wikisource, which only requires PD in the US, and where the file is in use on a transcription project. Please make sure the file is transwikied there before deletion.
I'd do it myself but since FileImporter is not available and I'm utterly failing to track down the old user scripts for preserving file history, I'm hoping someone else will help out.PS. The Wikisources have some special needs when it comes to media file usage relative to the Wikipedias etc. that mainly just use an image. The Wikisources have whole complex structures of inter-dependent pages set up around multi-page media (PDF, DjVu, etc.) using mw:Extension:ProofreadPage. Cleaning up after an unexpectedly deleted file is a… unfun… job (we can't just have a bot comment out an image reference), and deleted files tends to break entire works (not just show a broken image) until fixed. Any language Wikisource using a DjVu/PDF file nominated for deletion here will thus very much appreciate notification of the nomination so they can take the necessary steps (including transwiking when appropriate). As a bonus, the Wikisources will often have experience in determining copyright status for books and other textual works that may be helpful in deletion discussions here. --Xover (talk) 07:11, 5 October 2019 (UTC)- And, indeed, Prosfilaes has now uploaded a local copy at s:File:Gillies plastic surgery 1920.djvu. --Xover (talk) 08:04, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
