Commons:Deletion requests/File:Geiko Kimiha.jpg
Source page has an explicit copyright notice. User claims to be a representative of the source, but OTRS is required to prove that. . Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:26, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- This picture is not the same as that which is on the "source page", but a different edit using the raw file. Whatever an OTRS is, I'd be happy to comply - shouldn't you ask me to do that before you suddenly nominate it for deletion? Odd and unfriendly behavior from a mod. Please explain what I need to do to comply with this OTRS thing? Japanexperterna.se (talk) 15:11, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- I think you need to prove you are a official representatives of that site. See COM:USERNAME#Company.2Fgroup_names. Jee 15:26, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
- Not an actual policy and not related to the image itself, but to my username. But I'm of course happy to prove I am who I say I am. That said, shouldn't the fact that I have a high res version of an image not otherwise available except for a smaller version on japanexperterna.se be proof enough? Give me your e-mail and I'll mail you from an e-mail on the japanexperterna.se domain. Japanexperterna.se (talk) 16:45, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

- Fine, but again, that has nothing to do with this specific photo but seems to be another thing entirely. Can somebody remove the deletion request please?Japanexperterna.se (talk) 17:34, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Commons gets about 10,000 new images every day. About 2,000 of them need to be deleted for various reasons. 90% of that work is done by 25 Admins who are struggling to stay ahead of the flood. A DR is simply a way to get the discussion of an image into a public forum without taking too much valuable time. It is unfortunate that we do not have the human resources to handle each question on an individual personal basis, but that is the way it is.
Frequently -- several times a week -- we get users who claim to be representatives of sites or famous people when, in fact, they are only fans with no authority whatever to license images. We have therefore evolved the OTRS system which allows private confirmation of identity and licenses. Since we don't have any other way of knowing that User:Japanexperterna.se is actually related to the web site of the same name, policy requires confirmation.
I am sorry that I did not link "OTRS" in the first line above -- I usually do -- but you might have simply typed "OTRS" into the Commons search box and you would have ended up there.
This deletion request will be closed
- - as a "keep" if an authorized representative of Japanexperterna.se confirms the license on the image to OTRS and that confirmation is posted to the image by an OTRS volunteer, or
- - as a "delete" on June 14, whichever comes sooner.
Note that OTRS runs a backlog, so that it is entirely possible that the image will be deleted and then restored. . Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 12:36, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I've sent an e-mail to the OTRS (as well as one directly to you). I understand you're busy but could you please explain exactly on what grounds the picture stands to be deleted, as is? Again, this particular picture isn't available elsewhere - a 500x750 version is available on the website, but this is an 3456x5184 version with more color information and less compression artifacts. It doesn't seem to make sense to delete this in particular if there are any questions about the legitimacy of my account, unless you wanted to delete all of them, which on the other hand doesn't make sense as we're waiting for the OTRS. Deleting the photo would only create needless work, including removing it from two enwiki articles, and then reinstating it. I just don't get the point of it. Info User:Jameslwoodward has confirmed his relation with Japanexperterna.se website via OTRS. ~ Nahid Talk 16:15, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Kept: Withdrawn by nom. I am satisfied that the uploader is an authorized representative of the web site.
- The simple answer to your closing question is that dealing with images out of process takes much longer than simply following the routine. I have probably spent 15 minutes on this image -- time enough to deal with 30 to 50 routine cases.. Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 16:15, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
