Commons:Deletion requests/File:Durga Burdwan 03 10 2011.JPG
This is a derivative work which must be deleted per Commons:Derivative works. There is no evidence that the original work is old enough to be PD or that the conditions are met for COM:FOP#India. Although this work may incorporate some sculptural elements, this is not 100% a sculpture as many bidimentional paintings are also included. And no information is provided on whether this is permanently located or not. As part of a festival which happens once a year, it is difficult at first sight to imagine that this is a permanent display. Teofilo (talk) 00:58, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: Its not old enough. Its of 2011. And it was permanently placed in public area for as long as it existed. These sets are destroyed after the festival ends, say in 9-10 days. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:12, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Also, isn't the 2D art present in it too simple to be copyrighted? Its a part of stage decoration. If that is considered copyrighted, we might need to nominate a few more images from Category:Stages after this DR. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:36, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Just after uploading the file I had clarified the copyright status with an admin. If I was not able to clarify the copyright status, I would be the first one to nominate this file for deletion. But now it is nominated and it is upto the admins to decide. By the way, if this image is nominated why not other Durga images in the category too? Beacuse the same copyright status applies for those images too. -- Joydeep Talk 08:07, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Joydeep, if this image gets deleted, other similar images from Category:Durga Puja in India and Category:Ganesh Chaturthi will also be deleted. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:36, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the comments and explanations. The lion looks to be 2D and creative enough to be copyrighted. Are you sure the sculptures are destroyed every year ? One could think that the sculptures could be kept for many years, with new clothes being created for them every year ? Teofilo (talk) 13:37, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- They are not kept for next year, they are destroyed which is a retual. For more information Durga puja article on enwiki could be useful. -- Joydeep Talk 14:03, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Are the sculptures on File:Durga Burdwan 03 10 2011.JPG also "taken for immersion in a procession" as mentioned in article en:Durga Puja ? If so, it is more difficult to refer to them as permanent displays. Teofilo (talk) 15:54, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yes this image and all the images related to Durga idol had been immersed. The idols are made every year, worshiped and immersed. No sculpture photographed in the category exists now, only the photographs exists. -- Joydeep Talk 17:33, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

- Keep This is part of folklore. Yann (talk) 15:39, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- Keep it's "clean" according to FOP india (3d art, pubic places; not to mention that this is a pretty generic subject matter for its culture) & this case is pretty obvious, obvious enough to question the nomination & timing. this question should have been settled BEFORE poty r1 started. it's unfair to do this during the competition, it affects voting (& this seems to happen every bloody year).
