This is out of scope -- we do not keep personal art from non-notable artists. . Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:59, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- Delete - Regardless of scope, it's a blatant derivative of this photograph. Re-rendering an existing work (the photograph) as a watercolour does not dissolve the copyright of the original underlying work. Permission from the photographer would be needed. Эlcobbola talk 15:49, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- According to Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Waltercolor the VRT ticket on this drawing includes permission from the original photographer, who presumably didn't care about being credited if they're not being named on the file desription. (Why we didn't instead ask them for permission to use the original photograph directly, though, I don't know.) Belbury (talk) 11:13, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- If it's a derivative, it should be deleted, but the nomination statement is without merit. The subject is a notable chemist (frwiki article). The idea that an illustration of a notable subject must be created by a notable artist for us to retain it has no basis in COM:SCOPE. — Rhododendrites talk | 21:41, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- Keep, plainly in scope as "realistically useful for an educational purpose", irrespective of the artist's fame: it shows us what this notable French chemist looks like, in absence of a photograph. That the image is already COM:INUSE also confirms that. --Belbury (talk) 11:16, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Keep In use, so automatically in scope. Copyright issue seems to be OK, as per Belbury above. Yann (talk) 15:25, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
Kept: per discussion - My OTRS lapsed so I'm trusting what's been said about the ticket is correct. --The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 08:45, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
