No FoP for 3D works in the United States A1Cafel (talk) 06:22, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @A1Cafel!
- The legalese escapes me but if it's not covered under copyright law, then its not covered. Not knowing the freedom of panorama laws, I assumed like anyone else that publicly funded and/or public art was fair to share as a photograph. Now I know better. Never meant to do anything untoward. I don't think I uploaded any other artwork that fails FoP but feel free to check.
- A question if you wouldn't mind...if I add a photo of a building that has public art within the frame (I do not ask to try to find som lopphole!), is that allowed? For instance, I'm working on a Wikipedia article of a historical building that contains a mural and bronze sculpture only done within the 21st century. Does a photo of that building have to blur or be taken from an angel to intentionally hide the artwork? What if it's a government building with a taxpayer funded work?
- Plenty to reply to but if you feel more comfortable directing me to a guideline or essay page that explains it, any help is more than appreciated.
- My thanks!

- Since US FOP laws include building, so photographing a building in the US is OK. However, if you decide to include a public art, unless you obtain the permission from the creator, or it is old enough to be in PD, or the presence of the artwork is so incidental, or trivial that will not pose any consequences of copyvio (concept of de minimis), or you decide to blur/black out the artwork before you upload the photo, otherwise they will be deleted. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:48, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
