Derivative work; the advertisement on the car is copyrighted, and doesn't count as de minimis because it's the main focus of the picture. –Tryphon☂ 12:32, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment Simple design is a consideration given it's text and simple geometric shapes, but I don't think it applies - en:File:Windows logo.svg is licensed fair-use for example. Benchill (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- I thought about that, but I would already be concerned about the logo alone, and I think the rest of the graphics and the way they're arranged on the car are enough to make it pass the threshold of originality. –Tryphon☂ 14:47, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Well, we have Windows. Apparently the logo is good for Commons. I don't think the few words change anything about that. --Slomox (talk) 16:21, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- The logo on that page is simplified a lot (plain colors, without any gradient) compared to the logo on the car. –Tryphon☂ 16:47, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Keep Honestly I don't think there's any copyright infringment. Ironically I can say that it is both Ford and Microsoft that should pay us for advertising their marks :-) -- Blackcat (talk) 16:40, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Keep The main focus of the photograph appears to me to be the motor vehicle, and only incidentally the advertisement painted on the side. -- Mattinbgn/talk 22:28, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- But the image is in use on three different pages, all of them about Windows Mobile and not the Ford vehicle. That's a strong hint that the main interest of the image resides in the (copyrighted) advertisement, which can therefore not be considered de minimis. –Tryphon☂ 22:34, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment As the uploader (though not the photographer, and not an expert on "de minimus" matter) I'll only note that the USE of the image is irrelevant to the matter of whether it should be allowed on Commons. The question is whether the image itself is okay. Ingolfson (talk) 07:36, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- And BTW, the logo seen on the car (not the simplified version we're hosting) is tagged as fair use on en.wp. See also COM:CB#Vehicles and COM:L#Questionable, may or may not be OK. –Tryphon☂ 22:42, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
