No evidence of valid licence at source MPF (talk) 15:04, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Found the picture, but no mention of the license. --Thibaut120094 (talk) 15:15, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Keep Link rot due to the original release at Picasa no longer being supported by Google, is not a reason to delete a JSDF photograph that has been on Commons unchallenged for 3 years. If anyone thinks the photographer may have a concern, then they can try a Flickrmail to https://www.flickr.com/people/90465288@N07.
- Per User_talk:Fæ/2014#Picasa_images_from_the_Japan_Ground_Self-Defense_Force "Rest assured the licences on these uploads are verified and this was a semi-automated process though I have no current plans to write a Picasa upload bot for approval." Unfortunately no licensereviewer ever got around to double-checking my work in the 3 years after upload, a problem that was discussed on my talk page at the time of upload, but I took every caution to only upload correctly licensed files. --Fæ (talk) 15:33, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Keep This is Scott (aka Russavia). I asked Fae all those years ago to upload these images from Picasa as they were available under CC. Fae has uploaded those image on the basis they were available as CC. Some imagery was also available on the JGSDF's Flickr stream, and some duplicates have been uploaded and processed here. That Google has gone and f'ed around with Picasa and destroyed all of this information should not leave any doubt that these images were CC licensed both at the time of viewing by me and at the viewing and uploaded by Fae. - Comment This DR should not be done on its own but rather looked at in the context of the 1,350+ photos in Category:Photographs by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, of which 25% are in use. Monfulta (talk) 06:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Comment If one looks at http://www.mod.go.jp/gsdf/fan/photo/index.html, they will likely see many of these photos there. As per http://www.mod.go.jp/gsdf/rule/index.html, these photos are available under {{GJSTU2}}, which also complies with {{Cc-by-4.0}}. This may just be a case of updating licensing here. I note that Flickr uploads were CC-BY 2.0, and Picasa were CC-BY-SA 3.0. It might also be worthwhile dealing with Commons:Deletion requests/File:陸自キャラクター(タクマくん・ユウちゃん) イベント・行事・広報活動等 35.jpg as part of this DR. Ping: Thibaut120094, MPF, Fæ, Revent. - Comment Taking a look at the photo link above, at the bottom it states:
陸上自衛隊フォトギャラリーの写真使用について
陸上自衛隊では、フォトギャラリーのコンテンツ以外でも、多くの写真を複数のソーシャルメディア(PicasaFlickerPinterestfacebook)にて公開しています。 それらの写真は全て、出典元(例:陸上自衛隊HPより引用)を明記していただければ、商用・非商用を問わず、インターネット・出版物等に使用していただくことができます。
Google Translate states:
In the Ground Self Defense Force, even outside the contents of the photo gallery, many pictures are published on multiple social media ( Picasa Flicker Pinterest facebook ).
All of those pictures can be used for the Internet, publications, etc. regardless of whether they are commercial or non-commercial, so long as you specify the source of citation (eg from the Ground Self Defense Force HP).
I think it might be worthwhile creating {{JGSDF}} template. Monfulta (talk) 06:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Keep Image is on http://www.mod.go.jp/gsdf/fan/photo/cooperation/index.html with a link to the Picasa source, and thus licensed by the SDF. - Reventtalk 11:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Comment We need a global solution for all images of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. I am fine if there is an agreement for a massive license review with a bot, which should have been done when they were uploaded. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:13, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Licensing was checked at the time, as I do with all my uploads, automatically with a script. This means that "bot checks" have already been done. This is similar to the way I run specific checks for my batch upload projects from Flickr or US military, as well as license matching, these checks routinely reject uploading photographs with licenses such as PDM on Flickr or hosted non-US photos on DVIDS. --Fæ (talk) 10:20, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
- OK, fine. So could you please add a "license review" tag to all these files? Regards, Yann (talk) 11:08, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
