All are copyright violations, randomly found on google and uploaded to wiki. In some cases he cropped the photos and changed the size =quality loss on wiki version. Numerous of his photos have already been deleted, and one is currently in Deletion requests. The above listed photos originate from; first 12 photos: Juan Chalco/Cornell Lab of Ornithology (click for larger version of photo), Manyee Desandies, Chris Queen (under "Plover, Pacific Golden", 3rd photo from left), Tim Laman/National Geographic, Birdwatching from a Christian Perspective, wallcoo.com (the wiki uploaded even left the "wallcoo.com" mark on the Red-crowned Crane photo!), Flip Nicklin/National Geographic, Robert A. Patzner/FishBase (one of the first google photo search results for "Strophidon sathete" is a forum where this photo was used back in 2009. I guess this is where the wiki uploaded took it because that is the identification he used when he uploaded it to wiki. Revealingly, the moray eel on the photo is actually Muraena helena; a species that looks completely different than Strophidon sathete and is found in the opposite part of the world!), Christopher Menjou (near the bottom of the page), NOAA (note: this photo can be saved because it originates from NOAA, but then the source, author, licencing [should be {{PD-USGov-NOAA}}] and nonsense description should be corrected ["red morph" -- there is no such thing since all variation is clinal; anyhow this is just a normal young individual], Nick Caloyianis/National Geographic, Tim Laman/National Geographic.
Last 10 photos: Tim Laman/National Geographic (2nd photo), Tim Laman/National Geographic, Tim Laman/National Geographic (3rd photo on "photo-section" 2), Mehd Halaouate, photo by N.Borrow (tour guide for BirdQuest; not online anymore, but worth pointing out that N.Borrow had it under the correct identification -- it is an immature male Ribbon-tailed Astrapia photographed at Kumul Lodge; quite a different bird than the "Splendid Astrapia" the wiki user uploaded it as, and outside its distribution range too), Tim Laman/National Geographic, Tim Laman (this photo is also used in Handbook of the Birds of the World, v. 14), Tim Laman/National Geographic, Tim Laman/National Geographic (3rd photo in last "photo-section"; first time the display of this rare species was ever photographed).
In the above I limited it to the latest 12 photos this user uploaded to wiki and the first 10 he uploaded. Since all have copyright problems, it is unlikely the numerous photos he uploaded in between these two batches are OK, but because of time restaints I am limiting it here. I hope a user with greater skills on wiki commons will deal with the remaining. --• Rabo³ • 00:32, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Note: In total, the user has 150+ photos, and as noted above, it seems unlikely any of them are his own. Unfortunately, despite the warnings on his talk page and the link to this and other deletion reviews of his photos, he keeps on uploading. Yesterday, 15 April, he added 7 more. All listed as his own, but none of them are. The latest is an illustration by John Gould that can be saved because of its age if the description is corrected, but the remaining are problematic: File:Western Parotia (Parotia sefilata).jpg (Marek Stefunko), File:Superb Bird of Paradise (Lophorina superba).jpg (from BBC's w:en:Attenborough in Paradise), File:Wallace's Standardwing (Semioptera wallacii).jpg (from BBC's Attenborough in Paradise), File:Twelve-wired Bird-of-paradise (Seleucidis melanoleucus).jpg (Tadashi Shimada), File:King of Saxony's Bird-of-paradise (Pteridophora alberti).jpg (Tim Laman), File:Victoria's Riflebird (Ptiloris victoriae).jpg (Steffen Sailer). • Rabo³ • 02:30, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
