Coats of arms images uploaded by Lumastan

[edit]

All these files are coats of arms (mostly Portugal related) uploaded by Lumastan (talk · contribs). On en.wiki this user is now known as User:Cristiano Tomás. I have tried to fix issues with some of his Commons uploads since he improperly tagged a number of images as his own and this resulted in a number of deletions. He claims that the coats of arms are his own work although he also credits one Nuno A. G. Bandeira. I've asked him a few times over the last two months to clarify the status of these images but when I insisted again today, he asked that the images be deleted because he had no time to take care of this [1]. His statement also hints at the fact that the images are not in fact entirely his own. Pichpich (talk) 02:53, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I asked for these deletions, I am in school and have no time, for that I am sorry, but there are a few coat of arms that were created without assistance from Nuno or anyone, which are the Aviz and Aviz-Beja coat of arms, if those could be spared, it would be rightfully so. I plan on uploading these same coat of arms in a new fashion later in the year, with complete solitude on their creation as for no contreversy. All these arms are too old.  Keep Fry1989 eh? 23:42, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That only means that one is free to draw their own version and do whatever they wish with it. It's ok for me to draw the Mona Lisa and sell the resulting image for profit but it's not ok for my neighbor to sell my drawing even if it's based on a free image. This easily passes the threshold of originality Pichpich (talk) 14:42, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
