According to Category:Human skin only people with black skin are categorized by their colour of skin. From all these categories of xyz with black skin this one is the most strange one, because Noble Prize winning authors are categorized as well as paintings, black genitalia, black breasts, Cola bottle and vulva, and … --32X (talk) 19:28, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Keep Not a problem of that particular category, take Category:People as an example (nudes, dead, Nobel prize winners, murders, beheaded). We need more sub-cats if such crossovers bother you, for example Category:Portraits of women with black skin, Category:Nude women with black skin, Category:black skinned vulvas etc. pp. This cat. exists for a reason: People with black skins are not attached to their national origin, so Africans cannot be automatically categorized with "black skin" because there are some white nationals living there( in the past, whites where presidents in some countries, too). - Mattes, if you think images should be categorized by the color of skin of the depicted persons, okay. But if you do so, you should create a meaningful category scheme. Create categories for all races, Caucasian, Eastern Asian, Arab, Australian Aboriginal, Native American, whatever. Create a page which gives advice which pictures should be categorized with what kind of category, which images shouldn't be categorized etc. (Is Obama - white mother, black father - black?) Skin color is a sensitive topic. If you put Bedouins and Bangladeshis into Category:Males with black skin that's useless. --Slomox (talk) 22:09, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
- Delete I could understand it if there was a precise and enforceable definition of "black" skin. Today, I read black skin as "non blank", which is totally unacceptable. ARe we going back to apartheid with coloured and black people ? --Foroa (talk) 08:47, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Keep Per Mattes: this subcategory should not be confused with the subcategories of Category:People_by_ethnicity. However, there should be greater resolution of subcategories of People with xyz skin (in agreement with 32X's main complaint about only black skin being categorized). The basis for this could follow [1], or some other scale. I submit to Slomox and Foroa that categorizing based on skin tone is no more useless or offensive than categorizing based on height, gender or ethnicity. Nakomaru (talk) 09:37, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
