Aus/NZ "Traffic Signals Ahead" signs
[edit]- File:ANZ traffic lights ahead sign (colour).png
- File:ANZ traffic lights ahead sign (colour) sized.svg
- File:Australian traffic lights ahead sign.png
These three signs are a jumble between Australia and New Zealand. However, there are visible distinctions between the design used in the two respective countries, as can be seen between the two images on right. Besides the use of colour (Australia discontinued using coloured signals in the 90s), there is a distinguishable difference between the shapes of the signal heads. For these reasons, I believe it is justifiable to delete the three files listed above. Fry1989 eh? 19:55, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- Keep These signs are still in use in Australia, even since been "replaced" with a new style. The sign created and uploaded is based of a real World sign that I had photographed, the same goes for this sign. It seems that Fry1989 has an ownership over diagrams when these images are no issue to remain since every sign is going to have some variables. Bidgee (talk) 23:05, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- Further comment on the matter, while there is a AS standard with road signs (example W3-3), some states (RMS/RTA in NSW, VicRoads in VIC ect) create their own standards over the decades. There has been a number of different signs used for traffic lights/signals in NSW but the state has at last followed a national standard. This example in South Australia is a mix of file:Australia road sign W3-3.svg and file:Australian traffic lights ahead sign.png and even this is totally different to the light/signal image used on W3-3. - Let me tell you something Bidgee, I have had it with you attacking me and accusing me of having an ownership problem, especially when it's already been well-established that YOU have one yourself, thou hypocrite. This is atleast the 3rd time you have done so if not more. I don't see YOU doing all this work, without any expectations of thanks but solely because you enjoy it. If you have evidence to support these files being kept, than that should stand up by itself, without you attacking me, so the least you can do is treat me with a little dignity and accept that I'm pretty knowledgeable about road signs considering all the effort I put in out of my own free time. Does that mean I know everything? Absolutely not. But it does mean that this nomination is in no way arbitrary, it is based on the knowledge I have, and it was perfectly reasonable. Grow up and act becoming of an Admin for once. Fry1989 eh? 01:49, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Fact is you nominate old uploads when you've created new uploads that are the same or similar, very much the same type of behaviour when you revert to your preferred version and the your above comment shows that you have issues. Had you come to my talk page (which you also failed to notify me of this AfD) and asked about the signs, I would have told you about how signs from local to state level can have their own variables over the years. Really this is a pointless nomination since we have more pressing issues such as copyright violations and FoP issues. Bidgee (talk) 08:06, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Just to show you that signs can differ from local to state, 60° angle parking (R5-501) and No Parking (R5-40) signs, you'll note that the R5-40 is different to File:Australia R5-40.svg while it is the same as the RTA/RMS and the R5-501 in the photograph is similar but not the same as the RTA/RMS. While I may not create a large amount of svg files, I do have a back log of photographs to upload which is also an unforgiving job. Bidgee (talk) 08:51, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- The fact is I nominated these files based on reasonable assumptions with the knowledge I had. It wasn't arbitrary, and it wasn't personal, two things you seem to suggest in your attacks against me. I have never claimed to know everything, but I certainly know more than you give me credit for considering all the work I do here. So treat me with a little dignity, m'kay? I'm well aware that things can vary from state to state, do you really think I'm so oblivious to that considering I've been uploading a tonne of signs from Queensland, but at the same time different ones from other Australian states? I'm not blind. I still had a reasonable assumption in the differences between the sign as used in Australia and as used in New Zealand. You provided me some info i didn't have, but if it's so good, it should easily stand on it's own and your attack against me had no place here, and I absolutely resent your childishness about it. You're the one who seems to have a personal bend to this, very unbecoming of an Admin. I withdraw my nomination, but I will not be pushed around like this by a hypocrite.
