The US has no Freedom of panorama for artworks and sculptures, even when publicly displayed. Taking a photo of artworks and sculptures, dose not end the copyright held by artist. As Asteroid Landed Softly was is a "sundial sculpture was created in 1993 by architect Kazuo Matsubayashi" (see [1]) and Kazuo Matsubayashi is still alive, these photos of Asteroid Landed Softly are copyright violations. --ARTEST4ECHO talk 14:28, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I acknowledge receipt of your comment and thank you for your vigilance. I was not aware of that when posting the images. The Freedom of panorama link you've graciously provided states, "For artworks, even if permanently installed in public places, the U.S. copyright law has no similar exception, and any publication of an image of a copyrighted artwork thus is subject to the approval of the copyright holder of the artwork". Mr. Matsubayashi appears to have been a professor at the University of Utah (see [2]). I have contacted the University for assistance. If I am unable to contact him within one week I will delete these. --mk6032 Thu Apr 9 22:15:26 UTC 2015
- I was able to get in contact with Mr. Matsubayashi via email and he has granted permission to leave these pictures posted. --mk6032 Fri Apr 10 15:25:51 UTC 2015
- Then I suggest the he needs go threw the Commons:OTRS process and submit a release to use in the Public Domain. According to Commons:Project_scope#Evidence "In all cases the uploader must provide appropriate evidence to demonstrate either that the file is in the public domain or that the copyright owner has released it under a suitable license." You saying that Mr. Matsubayashi give you the copyright, doesn't make it true. This is especially true with regards to living people.--ARTEST4ECHO talk 14:09, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
