Arms of Sir Joseph Terry

[edit]

These depictions of Sir Joseph Terry's arms are not only hideously ugly, but also technically wrong. The cross, which should be engrailed - see a contemporary depiction here - is shown with plain edges. The fasces, which should be of gold, is shown in natural colours. Above the shield is the barred helm of a peer, despite the fact that Terry was a knight; and in place of mantling, the first image seems to show clipart laurel wreathes scattered around the shield? --Zacwill16 (talk) 20:11, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There are further problems with these images, namely that the used elements are unattributed. Still, the second image listed is in use. I propose the use of Template:Disputed coat of arms until someone constructs proper alternatives, or corrects these. Tom-L (talk) 15:47, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's sensible. I've added the template to both file pages. Zacwill16 (talk) 17:31, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Though I can only apologize for my poor quality image creating, I hope you will be forgiving and assume good faith. Despite the fact that I'm no expert in heraldry (as is evident), I was hoping a better image with expert consultation could be produced once I had figured out the main structure of the article (of which I have now done). Therefore, if this image is as 'hideously ugly' as you say it is, perhaps you could point me in the right direction in amending the image, or better still, handing the contemporary photograph to a vector artist for completion. Its probably also worth bearing in mind that I have a personal interest in the article and have removed the image as such.Curlymanjaro (talk) 23:41, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: A heraldically correct depiction is needed. Since the individual elements used in the current images have not been attributed, and it is unlikely that the original uploader devised those themselves, the images have been deleted instead of uploading new versions.
