Discussion
Thanks for helping out! Please start running to get the hang of it, just don't run too fast (you'll flood Special:RecentChanges). If all is well you can be flagged right away. Multichill (talk) 14:17, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure if the change on File:US_Navy_070808-N-3390M-001_Ceremony_participants_onboard_Naval_Station_Everett_participate_in_the_P-155_bachelor_enlisted_quarters_Homeport_Ashore_Groundbreaking_Ceremony.jpg is of much use. Please stop this for now. -- User:Docu at 14:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Previously it has one red category, now it has one blue category. Some red categories are either redundant or typo. I'm trying to fix that. Bennylin (talk) 14:47, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- "Images from US Navy, location Everett, Wash." is not a valid category name. It's just one of the temporary categories from the navy upload where someone created a description page. Maybe with "Wash." spelled out it could be a valid name. For tests, you might want to use the ones listed here -- User:Docu at 14:53, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- So... should I run it again? Bennylin (talk) 14:54, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- If the categories are meaningful, it's ok with me. The ones in the previous link seem like a good test. -- User:Docu at 14:59, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Running test edits now. category.py move -from:Images_from_KIT,_Voorstelling_Geografie_-_Bogor -to:Bogor Bennylin (talk) 07:50, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Done. 230 files, 37 minutes. 6 images per minute. Comments are welcomed. Bennylin (talk) 08:27, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like you know how to use pywikipediabot. Ok for me. As the first result is satisfactory and as it may take some time till you will get the bot flag, you might want to do more (test) edits. -- User:Docu at 08:59, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Will do.On second thought, I'll wait for Multichill's response Bennylin (talk) 09:14, 29 November 2009 (UTC)- While waiting will run some more as the job queue is pretty long. category.py move -from:Images_from_KIT,_Voorstelling_Geografie_-_Surakarta -to:Surakarta 355 images approx 60 minutes. Bennylin (talk) 15:36, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Done. 1 hours exactly. Bennylin (talk) 16:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Looks good. Maybe one of the bureaucrats can flag the bot so it's easier to keep track of these edits. Multichill (talk) 20:48, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- You might want to request a higher edit rate, but otherwise I agree with Multichill -- User:Docu at 20:49, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- @Docu: Indeed. I'd request a higher edit rates. @Multichill: That's the link I'm looking for. Thanks. :) Bennylin (talk) 13:47, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think will be good idea to add target category in edit summaries. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:46, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
There simply not enough space. The names are longgg... What's the cap for edit summaries, btw? 140 char or something?Well, I'll see if i can tweak it. I'll run a test tomorrow. Hope that's not a requirement for a bot flag. Bennylin (yes?) 16:54, 2 December 2009 (UTC)- This is just the normal category.py from pywikipedia (used by all the move bots running around here). Target category is not included because the space in the summary is limited. Multichill (talk) 17:55, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
