Commons:Bureaucrats/Requests/Lar
Info about me: Lar (talk · contributions · Move log · Statistics · logs · block log) - my matrix of wiki accounts and activities
After consulting with some of the existing bureaucrats, I have decided to seek community approval to become a bureaucrat here at Commons.
I think that the current active 'crats are doing a fine job, however I also think that sharing the workload will be beneficial to the community. I appreciate the trust already shown in me by the community, I became an administrator here on 12 October 2006, and I became a CheckUser here on 1 April 2007. I also hold adminship and checkuser on Meta, as well as adminship on en:wp and a bureacratship on a non WMF project. ( my WikiMatrix has full details )
If promoted I intend to carefully consider whether consensus exists for promotions and bot flags before acting, always with the best interests of the project in mind. I welcome questions and comments and would appreciate your support. As I said in my adminship, I really like it here at Commons... the project, the goals, and the people who hang here, and I want to keep Commons the low key laid back place it is. ++Lar: t/c 13:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

- Support and strongly from me. Someone who I trusted enough to nominate for CU twice has the qualities I want. Larry communicates and works hard - he makes a great match for our current active 'crats. His cross wiki experience is extensive & I have worked across projects with him on a number of occasions - he cares --Herby talk thyme 14:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Support. I think Lar is perfectly capable of handling these tools. Cary Bass demandez 14:58, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

- Very strong Support - an excellent, experienced Wikimedian, dedicated to the Commons project. Does lots of great work as an administrator, and as a checkuser as well probably... Commons could do with another bureaucrat, and Lar would be my first choice. Majorly (talk) 15:13, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

- Come on, I was at least hoping for something a bit juicier, as, e.g., Neutral He consistently leaves the toilet seat up, to my considerable chagrin. Jahiegel 05:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose - not against Lar - but why we need so much burocrats? At de:EP we have 2 and this is really enough. And I don't like if so much jobs in only one hand - Admin, CU and BC - no. We have enough user to to the work, it's not nessecary, that only a few have all the power in their hands. Marcus Cyron 18:34, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

- Support. Though I don't know how someone who worked at IBM and had to wear a suit, a white shirt, and a dark tie will contribute to a low key, laid back atmosphere. —Benn Newman 15:01, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

- Support Lar is somewhat of an interesting person. We have a fair share of disagreements. I have not seen a single instance of him using admin tools to gain advantage in a discussion even when debates get rather hot. Therefore I am inclined to conclude that this user is more than qualified to have a laser guided mop. -- Cat chi? 19:20, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. That's a necessary but not sufficient condition, though... we expect no less from all administrators, gaining advantage in discussions by using the tools is just Not On! ++Lar: t/c 23:14, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps, but you have demonstrated to stay cool in most extreme situations. For example (on English wikipedia especially) on very rare occasions wheel waring and other "harmful" behavior does happen. -- Cat chi? 07:41, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

- Support Lar has my full confidence. I am satsfied he will promote people where there is a consensus to do so and not promote them where there isn't. WjBscribe 02:47, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Support Lar's candidate statement sets out a fine understanding of bureaucratship, and it is one to which I trust entirely that he will adhere. Jahiegel 05:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Support No chance of abuse, only a chance that he'll be a great asset with the extra tools. -- Editor at Large • talk 09:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
