Deadstar

I am reluctant to nominate admins as a general rule but there are always exceptions! I've been gently working on this one for a while now and I am delighted to be able to offer you the services of Deadstar as a Commons Admin. When I started on Commons I used to run through the new pages and the likes looking for out of scope stuff and tagging it among other things. When I became an admin I found one or two others who were doing the same thing. I checked their work fully to start with but a couple of them I came to trust completely and this is one of them.

They clean up, they place tags on stuff, they interact with users and they ask questions when they are unsure. They are helpful & courteous. I would appreciate consideration and support for this nomination. --Herby ^{talk thyme} 12:13, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

•  Question I would like to ask you as an admin candidate to confirm that you accept the fact that policies may change in the future and that you will respect this fact (due in part to this posting)? Equally that you will do all you can to respect the fact that with admin rights come an obligation to use those rights to deal tasks that require attention here? It seems to me that it is only natural that policies change and evolve, if they didn't something wouldn't be right. And there's always the option of voicing my opinion on any proposed changes. And I understand the obligation that comes with being an admin, when I think that my admin-status is no longer of any use to the community (due to pending inactivity or otherwise), my full intention is to then ask for a de-admin. I see my role as an admin to continue along the lines of my work as a user: cleaning up stuff like the uncategorised pages, incomplete deletion requests, uncategorised categories etc. And if there is any particular area that needs attention, to jump in where needed. User:Kylu actually said it beautifully in their RfA below, and I was going to say something similar: "While I don't think that admin "powers" will really improve my commons experience in itself, I do think it will make it easier to deal with problems when they do come up. Adminship isn't really there to improve my experience as much as it is to try to help improve the experience of others." Deadstar (msg) 07:48, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
