A proposal to rename into "Category:Regions of Europe by country"
[edit]I'm wondering how such an idea can come up, basing on the very visible content of the category - one needs to be quite inconsistent to not see that the organizing theme is countries' subdivisions, not regions of a continent. Regions by country it is, therfore - "Regions of Europe" is off the mark as it suggests a different grip of "region" (Regions of Europe pertains to e.g. Eastern Europe/Middle Europe while Regions of countries speaks to parts of a nation). All in all, the proposed title is meaningless & has nothing to do with the actual category - it's also breaking the consistency with sister cats Regions of countries of Asia and Regions of countries of Africa. - Oppose the rename request.
- I agree with Orrling that "region of any continent" have completely different meaning than "region of any country in the continent". Region of any country is part of the state – region of any continent is generally a group of countries.
- Btw., Category:Regions of countries of Europe is not a meta category – it can contain also individual media which have not their own national subcategory yet.
- I understand that the double preposition "of" can look a bit clumsy but the current name is more exact and unambiguous. --ŠJů (talk) 01:03, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
