Scope?
[edit]As this has been renamed, does it now clearly include 'Station Road', 'Railway Terrace' etc., not just the literal 'Railway Street' ? Andy Dingley (talk) 00:13, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Good question, if the name is unclear it could be renamed to be narrower but to answer your question I think 'Station road' names would not be included while streets with 'Railway' in the name are included such as both previously already included "Eisenbahn streets in Germany" and "Bahn streets in Germany" (referring to the railway line including vehicle or the vehicle). - I preferred "Railway streets". This would have been similar to "Church streets". It should include any variation or translation of "railway" (such railroad) and "street" (such as avenue, road, etc.). An alternative sometimes used is "Streets named railway street".
- Depending on the numbers, one could still do more specific subcategories for "Streets named Railway Terrace", etc.
- "Station road" should go into Category:Train station streets. Enhancing999 (talk) 12:01, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- I thought this category referred to streets with rails on them for trams for example or with rail crossings. Church streets could refer to streets with churches. Prototyperspective (talk) 12:14, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- We could add a description, if that helps. Users with mobiles don't see the parent categories. Enhancing999 (talk) 12:21, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- The category title itself should be clear and quite self-explanatory, and it is possible here without making the cat-name much longer. Prototyperspective (talk) 12:23, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Within reason. "railway names" by itself would leave me quite clueless. That other thing is at Category:On-street running. Enhancing999 (talk) 12:31, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

- Which alternative should we choose? Move it back to "Railway streets" or use "Streets named railway street"? Enhancing999 (talk) 10:56, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Strongly oppose the former for the reasons above which I could continue to elaborate if unclear. So the second if that is preferred to leaving it as is. Prototyperspective (talk) 11:08, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. We need to fix the current mess in one way or the other. Enhancing999 (talk) 11:15, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

- As this has now been renamed from Category:Streets with railway names to Category:Streets named railway street, shouldn't that be capitalised as Category:Streets named Railway Street, as those are proper noun phrases. Also (as it's now even more unclear) does that include Railway Street, Station Street or Railway Road ? I can see a small use to splitting Station names from Railway names, but none at all to splitting Railway Road from Railway Street (especially for our international context).
- Personally I can't see much value to splitting at all, and would leave it at Category:Streets with railway names, to include all. Andy Dingley (talk) 13:33, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
