Category talk:Reservoirs in South Tyrol
How should we categorize the reservoirs?
- both in Reservoirs in South Tyrol and Lakes of South Tyrol, with Reservoirs as a subcat of Lakes (current system)
- only in Reservoirs in South Tyrol, with Reservoirs as a subcat of Lakes?

- I'd categorize them just as reservoirs, following the principle to only put objects into the "deepest" fitting category. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 11:12, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm agree with Mai-Sachme. Ludo (talk) 11:14, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
The problem is that Category:Reservoirs and Category:Lakes are both children of the parent Category:Bodies of water and not otherwise related. So the broken down categories for South Tyrol should follow that principle. Or the top level relationship should be discussed.
The problems I see with this approach is that Category:Dams is a subcat of Category:Reservoirs, while dams are not lakes. So putting reservoirs underneath lakes would make dams be lakes. On the other hand images are collected for the reservoir (lake) and the dam in a single category. Usually. It would sound natural to me to inverse dependencies and put reservoirs under dams (each reservoir is created by some kind of dam, but a dam can exist without water behind), which allows to put reservoirs also under lakes, as dams are now excluded. But as said above, this should be discussed at the top level.
Leaving the top level unchanged, I would think it will be necessary to put reservoirs under both categories. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 16:17, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- I removed the Category:Lakes of South Tyrol. Gun Powder Ma (talk) 14:46, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
