Category talk:Reconquista maps of the Iberian Peninsula

The name of this category is redundant. The Reconquista only happend in the Iberian Peninsula, therefore the category should be called Maps of the Reconquista. However, it should be noted that the term Reconquista is contested by some historians and has been associated to Spanish nationalist historiography and could be considered non-neutral. Given that there are already two similar categories (Category:Maps of Medieval Iberia & Category:Maps of Al-Andalus) I question whether this category is at all necessary. --Té y kriptonita (talk) 14:11, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I created this category today and I must admit that I don't know much about the Reconquista. I found the Category:Reconquista and saw it was half filled with maps and half with other files related to Reconquista. I decided to be bold and diffuse Category:Reconquista by creating a subcategory only for the maps (leaving the other files more visible). The reason I chose the name prefix of the Iberian Peninsula was this - seemingly there were other Reconquistas. I still think these two categories should exist if the step-by-step conquest actually took place (noone objects on that?). Maybe you can come up with more neutral names for the categories?
