- There are four hotels particuliers on the travel site for the Castre area. [1]
- Hotel Jean Leroy, Hotel Poncet, Hotel Vivies and Hotel Nayrac are listed as tourist sites.
- Successful Banker in Castre, Pierre Auriol, born in 1670 to merchant, Elisee Auriol born August 7, 1635 and his first wife, Anne de Lebauve who married in 1659. As members of the Reformed church, their wedding ceremony was officiated at Arirat Castle. [ Parish records of births, marriages, funerals and deaths, Saint Jacques Villegoudou parish records, Castres database of Histoire et Généalogie. ] Their son Jean, born in 1660, is mentioned in the Toulouse - Judgement of Parliament for crimes against the catholic church. Death by public burning at the stake is pronounced, however, a fine of £1000 is paid plus £500 to the crown and this allows Jean to flee to safety in London. See huguenot protestant histoire, “Protestants in Exile”, notes on the Auriol family. [2]
- Brother Isaac, born 1668, joined Jean in London. In Elisee’s will, it suggests there were high costs associated with this transition to London. Isaac died in 1741, age 73 recorded at Saint Stephen parish, Coleman Street, London. Peter’s family retrieved the value of the London estate understood to be ÉCU 100,000. Peter purchased the Lasgraisse Seigneury from the widow of the Count of Poitier. Peter paid £48500 for the Seigneury and his son Sieur Elisee of Castres or Lord Auriol held title over the Lasgraisses parish. Peter also invested in the construction of a hotel in Castres. Religiously/politically, he was allied with the family of Jean-Louis de Ligonnier, (expat to england) and he may have had similar connections with the prominent families who initiated the building of the other hotels in Castres and Albi.
- The hotels particulières are defined by being 1) urban dwellings of magnitude 2) originally built for one family.
