Category talk:Kyanzin Valley
Category:Langtang
[edit]@Krok6kola: In which way is Category:Langtang different from Category:Kyanzin Valley? As far as I can tell from the contained photographs, both entities are at least close to each other. And my impression is that also other people do not know the difference when categorising photographs. And the village is obviously called Category:Kyanjin Village and Category:Kyanjin Gompa, i.e. with a "j" instead of a "z". Unfortunately, a wikidata bot added instance of = mountain range to Langtang in 2014 (probably a mismatch with Langtang Himal?). This contributes to the confusion further, I'm afraid. What can we do? By the way: Several language versions of w:Langtang clearly consider Langtang as a community / Village Development Committee, not as a mountain range. --Kuhni74 (talk) 15:54, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Kuhni74: Those categories were made in 2016 so many other editors have put images in these categories in the last eight years. It does seem some of the images are of a village and others are not. But if mistakes have been made, please feel free to correct them. Krok6kola (talk) 16:05, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Krok6kola: Thank you very much for your reply. Do I understand correctly that in your opinion, "Category:Langtang" should be for the (2015 destroyed) village, "Category:Kyanjin Village / Gompa" for the (remaining) village and "Category:Kyanzin Valley" for the countryside outside settlements? If yes, the wikidata object "Langtang" should be changed from "mountain range" to "settlement", shouldn't it? By the way, there is another wikidata object VDC Langtang, which is connected to Langtang, Rasuwa, but not related to any commonscat. Of course I could simply try correct how I believe is right, but I don't want to make it worse than it is, and destroy somebody else's work. --Kuhni74 (talk) 20:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Kuhni74: I am not an expert regaining Nepal. The category does have a "Natural heritage sites in Nepal" banner on it that I did not put there. It indicates all the categories under it are part of Category:Langtang National Park, a natural heritage site in Nepal. I suggest you ask at the Commons:Help desk or the Commons:Village pump if there remains some confusion. Krok6kola (talk) 20:33, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Stegop and HenkvD: Can you shed some light on the Nepal categories and the Nepal natural site IDs that you obviously added to Category:Langtang and (e.g.) Category:Dhulikhel, respectively? The closed discussion on Commons:Categories for discussion/2014/07/Category:Mountain of Langtang, Rasuwa is also quite relevant, but my impression is that the origin of these Nepal IDs is still unclear? @Ilya: you built the Template:Wiki Loves Earth Nepal, do you know how the Nepal IDs were designed? @Nabin K. Sapkota: you created Category:Natural heritage sites in Nepal with known IDs, can you help? Or @Joshbaumgartner and Themightyquill: , who were involved in the 2014 discussion? --Kuhni74 (talk) 08:47, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- Where the particular number NP-RAS-04 on Category:Langtang comes from is unclear to me. Similar numbers NP-RAS-01 and NP-RAS-02 are mentioned on en:List of monuments in Rasuwa, Nepal. There probably was an other page with the number NP-RAS-04, which might have been deleted........ HenkvD (talk) 12:36, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- @HenkvD: Thank you very much! But who defined these IDs in the first place (see the 2014 talk mentioned above, which also links to a removed WP page which lacked references)? And what does "Langtang" stand for: the (destroyed) village, the valley, the former VDC, the mountain range? --Kuhni74 (talk) 21:58, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Biplab Anand: can you help with this issue, as you created for instance page en:List of monuments in Rasuwa, Nepal? HenkvD (talk) 11:12, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
