Name changed to Inosperma adaequatum

[edit]

The fungus species name change from Inocybe adaequata to Inosperma adaequatum is now well established (see [https://www.speciesfungorum.org/Names/NamesRecord.asp?RecordID=232015 the Species Fungorum entry). Now I would like to change the Commons category to reflect this change. Currently Category:Inocybe adaequata contains the information for the taxon, and Category:Inosperma adaequatum exists but is only a {{Synonym taxon category redirect}} which leads back to the old name. I want to reverse this situation; the Category:Inosperma adaequatum page should contain the files and the informationa and Category:Inocybe adaequata should just be a redirect.

I can update the pages accordingly and move the files to the new category, but my only problem would be that the history would be on the redirect page, not on the page with the new name. If the Category:Inosperma adaequatum page could be deleted, I could do the change with a rename as I have a basic renaming right so long as the new name does not already exist. The history of Category:Inosperma adaequatum is negligible (and the history of the old category page is not much.

How should be arrange this change? There are other similar cases. Strobilomyces (talk) 19:48, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Now I have updated the two pages accordingly, to make Inosperma adaequatum the main one. The only problem is that some history is on the synonym page, not the current one. Strobilomyces (talk) 15:33, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
