Root directory to classify diagrams by theme's
[edit]This category is top down designed to offer a
- specialized top down category tree
- to categorize all specialized thematic diagram categories.
In order to get and keep an effective and efficient category structure:
- The initial category structure is based on w:Fields of science
- Only the fields of sciences listed there should be part of the structure
- (Much) more specialized categories should be added in lower categories.
I think these rules will keep this category focussed. Thanks.

[edit]Any objections for the rename-'n-merge? Orrlingtalk 17:16, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- No objection. "Infographics by subject" is fine by me too. It seems that the word "infographics" has become very popular since the last time I discussed this 5 years ago on talk pages. See:
- https://www.google.com/search?q=infographics - "About 23,000,000 results".

- Support. -By the way, do you know if Signs qualify as infographics/Information graphics? I've been wondering about this. Orrlingtalk 17:27, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- I believe signs are infographics. Infographics has a broad meaning, it seems. See definitions:
- https://www.google.com/search?q=define+infographics --Timeshifter (talk) 17:33, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- OK, since signs (especially road signs) have diagrams depicting them, which are information graphics on Commons, I think we should not include Category:Signs in Category:Information graphics. Better continue designating Category:Information graphics to graphic patterns i.e visualization of things rather than expand it to include "Signs", which consist of photographs of signs. Information graphics should host maps, schemes, charts, illustrations... Orrlingtalk 17:52, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
