Redundance

This Category:Dairies includes:

• Category:Dairies by country (31 cat)

and

• Category:Dairy companies
  • incl. Category:Dairy companies by country (18 cat, incl. Category:Cheese by country)

What is the sense, what the important (?) difference between Dairies and Dairy companies ? Would it not be better to have only one cat for the topic ?

Keep both categories and integrate Cheese factories

• I think there is a difference between a dairy and a dairy company. A dairy is a farm where raw milk is produced and/or processed, only from that farm. A dairy company is a factory where milk is processed from several farms. So I would like to keep both categories.
  
• I agree that Category:Cheese factories should be integratedː cheese making is a form of processing milk. So it would be a subcategory of Dairy company.

Thanks, JopkeB - I believe, that this (Farm dairy vs Dairy company) was the original intention (as Dairies are categorized in Category:Dairy farming). But it is not anymore. Looking at Category:Dairies in Germany: 23 cats and 34 fotos. Not one is a Farm dairy. Category:Dairies in Friesland supposed to have Farm dairies, but has one major cat Category:Dairy companies in Friesland. Once, all Dairy companies are taken out from the Farm dairy-cat, probably not much will remain. At least, the cat should have a clearer name, like FARM DAIRY and a clear definition, about what it is. One may discuss, whether Farm Dairy shall be a subcat (!) of the related Dairy companies. But for sure not vice versa. Wistula (talk) 15:20, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
