Category merger needed for "Bathing females in art" and "Bathing women in art"
[edit]Any objections? Or ideas as to which direction the two should best merge in – women to females or v.v? (This will naturally rule the males/men pair too) Orrlingtalk 03:44, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- of course since females contains women, is women to be deleted --Pierpao.lo (listening) 14:15, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with you, but generally, for your knowledge, subcategories named "women" can equally include females of any age when it's "in art". Orrlingtalk 17:42, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have images of bathing female felines. Which category should they go in? 131.137.245.208 14:51, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Why merge? Category:Bathing females in art is the parent of Category:bathing women in art and is entitled to be the parent of Category:bathing girls in art (if created). What's the problem? Category:Green road vehicles is parents of Category:Green automobiles --Mattes (talk) 07:15, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Better. I said "women" should be deleted just in case we determine do merge because I agree with Mattes and the gentle anonymous writer and ihmo subcategories named "women" can not include females of any age even "in art".--Pierpao.lo (listening) 12:28, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- I think Category:Bathing women and girls in art would be best. It avoids queries about female cats etc. (although I understand that Commons is somewhat human-centric, and "Bathing females in art" would have to be taken as human only.) Trying to distinguish women and girls in pictures introduces unnecessary difficulties. It's weird that the language doesn't have common words for "human female" or "human male". --ghouston (talk) 22:40, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Your proposed title "Women and girls" is an inexistent tree here on the project. However, I may be able to extract from your comment a stance of support for the idea of using a single category rather than two here, which is what the requested merger is about. Good. - Yes, if Category:Bathing women and girls in art is out of scope then I support a single category Category:Bathing females in art. --ghouston (talk) 03:57, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Also support merging the categories, and have no opinion on which one to delete. JesseW (talk) 05:50, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
