Category talk:Arabic-language logos
This category is a subclass of specific countries
[edit]Category:Logos in Arabic is included in Category:Visual arts of Algeria, Category:Visual arts of the Palestinian territories, Category:Visual arts of Saudi Arabia, an all the categories where Arabic is main language. Same case as the currencies, for example Category:Euro is included in Category:Money of Austria, Category:Money of Belgium, Category:Money of Cyprus, and 18 more countries.
Category:Arabic language is part of Category:Languages of Bahrain, Category:Languages of Egypt, Category:Languages of Eritrea, and 17 more countries. Since Category:Logos is a subclass of Category:Visual arts, this sub-Category:Logos in Arabic affects all the countries speaking Arabic. Similar classification to Category:Logos in English, Category:Logos in French, Category:Logos in German, etc. -- Basile Morin (talk) 03:03, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Basile Morin: "Logos in Arabic" can be also in Sweden. Hence, country categories are invalid. Category:Euro is bad example, because it is strictly related to certain countries. Although, you can take images of euros in USA or Australia--Estopedist1 (talk) 04:51, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- In many countries like Belgium, Switzerland, Singapore, or Algeria, that have several official languages (see Standard Algerian Berber as an example for Algeria), it is helpful to distinguish Category:Logos of Algeria from Category:Logos in Arabic, and reciprocally. So that, when users are looking for a specific logo and don't know the origin, they can find it through this classification, instead of believing the logo doesn't exist. I don't think the related categories are crowded to the point to avoid that extra support.
- So many categories overlap all the time, the general classification is far from being a tree structure. Almost all the categories here have several parents and several sub-cats. And this is why Arabic language is included in 20 countries, and Category:Kabyle language is also part of Category:Languages of Algeria. Concerning the logos on Commons, we can find them either by language, or by country -- Basile Morin (talk) 06:16, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
