On Anamalai hills categories and redirects

Hi User:Roland_zh, This is regarding your category redirects placed for
#1 Category: Anamalai Tiger Reserve --> Category:Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park
#2 Category: Trees of the Anaimalai Hills --> Category:Anaimalai Hills forest
As a frequent user of both former categories, I feel both these redirects are not ideal as they are at present for the following reasons:
For #1: Anamalai Tiger Reserve is the present name of the area that includes the erstwhile Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park (IGWLS&NP). Besides the IGWLS&NP area, additional areas in the buffer zone are included in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve. Images and media categorised as Anamalai Tiger Reserve could therefore be from outside the IGWLS&NP area. So while it makes sense to have IGWLS&NP as a sub-category of Anamalai Tiger Reserve, it does not make sense to redirect all ATR to the older name as category redirect #1 does. I would suggest that the applied redirects are reversed to Category: Anamalai Tiger Reserve and that this category be retained. Incidentally, the same points will apply also to Category:Parambikulam_Tiger_Reserve, with the Tiger Reserve specifying a larger area than just Category:Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary which could be made a sub-cat of Category:Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
For #2: The Category: Trees of the Anaimalai Hills was specifically helpful in tagging images of tree species in the Anaimalai hills rather than broad forest/landscape shots for which a category name like Category:Anaimalai Hills forest may have been relevant. The existing Category:Trees in the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park‎ which is a sub-category of Category:Anaimalai Hills forest also adds to some confusion. The former contains mostly forest/landscape images and the latter contains mostly individual tree photos, which is exactly the opposite of what one would have thought after reading the category names. Also Category: Trees of the Anaimalai Hills was a very useful category for two reasons: (a) as it could include images from the larger Anamalai Hills region and not just the IGWLS&NP area and (b) it avoids the confusion of using an older and longer name (IGWLS&NP). Once again, I feel that the edits due to redirect of Category: Trees of the Anaimalai Hills are better reversed as this is a more useful, better-named, accurate and relevant category for those images. As frequent user, please feel free to go an as your prefer.
Category:Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is done some minutes ago, and as accordingly practiced many times before the past decade, I recommend to rename (batch-oriented, simple to do by using cat-a-lot) the related WLS/Tiger Reserve (and forest), preferrably by using, for instance, Special:MovePage/Category:Anaimalai_Hills, to preserve the related version histories. imho the better way than 'reversing' since so far I did those categoration in a good faith to avoid overwhelming Category:Anaimalai Hills's category tree, but of course, it's no more on my watchlist as I trust in your competence. thx and kindly regards, Roland zh (talk) 18:23, 15 March 2017 (UTC) [updated Roland zh (talk) 19:27, 15 March 2017 (UTC)]

Hi, following from above discussion, I have now retained both categories Category:Anaimalai Hills forest and Category: Trees of the Anaimalai Hills by removing the category redirect from the latter. The former category contains general forest and landscape images, while the latter is specifically images of tree species and particular trees (more uploads to this latter category expected soon).
