Absurdly narrow cat

[edit]

Well this is an absurdly narrow category. 1768 books from England, possibly, but frankly books in that period were far more likely to be published in London than anywhere else in the country. 1768 books from Swindon? 1768 books from Little Snoring? ... the possibilities are endless. Hello, I recommend to concentrate on London, Paris and New York first, before doing anything rash. Then probably Rome and Madrid. Boston, Amsterdam, Warsaw and Moskow next. Eventually down to the rather decentralized affairs in Germany, Northern Italy and the rest-US. That said, I fear that I didn't encounter that many publications from Little Snoring here on commons, so far. So I suspect the publications of that metropolis are not yet a major concern, are they?
The idea is, of course, that the 140'000 entries (so far) in this category will eventually be sorted in categories by year, together with the London-fractions from the "Books from Great Britain by year", "Books from England by year" and "Books from the United Kingdom by year". I concentrated first to merge the "Books from the Kingdom of Great Britain by year" into London/Great Britain, that's why some of these categories still can only match the grand total of Manchester publications which is admittedly disappointing. I do concur though, that there are some books for each year not produced in London, and those will need to be sorted as well. My suggestion is total-, century- or decade-categories for each city depending on the amount of titles; and bundling them together geographically, into England/Scotland/Ireland/Wales. All that in leisure time... may take more than a few prime ministers, but I'm optimistic. ;-) --Enyavar (talk) 23:54, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Admittedly, this takes quite some time, but even Category:1647 books from London, 120 years earlier, comes along nicely. --Enyavar (talk) 23:33, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
