English: The Nana Yaa Asantewaa Museum in Ejisu (Ashanti Region, Ghana) was the residential building of Nana Yaa Asantewaa, a famous local female folk hero, which organised and led a guerrilla war against the British in 1900/1901 known as Fifth Anglo-Ashanti War (also called "War of the Golden Stool"). The museum was established in 1992 after the former building has been burnt down and in this state it's also to see actually. The actual maintenance is accomplished by donations mainly from USA and UK and a rebuilding is planned. The name terms "Nana" and "Asantewaa" are titles and mean "head of a (matrilinear) family clan" (Nana) and "Queen mother of an Asantehene (Ashanti King)" (Asantewaa). "Yaa" is an feminine Akan prename and means "born on a Thursday".
