English: A wired veil was a veil made to stand up with a wire frame, worn behind a ruff (usually an open ruff). It was usually edged with lace, and often heart-shaped or wing-shaped, holding the veil out above and behind the shoulders, rather than over the head. The veil hung down to the floor, sometimes with a train, and was sometimes called a lace mantle.
