Built in 1948 by St. Louis Shipbuilding and Steel Co., St. Louis, Missouri, the boat was first owned by Butcher-Arthur, Houston, Texas, then Commercial Petroleum & Transport Corp., Houston, which in 1955 became Commercial Transport Corp., Houston, Texas.
In 1962, the boat was sold to Wisconsin Barge Line, Cassville, Wisconsin.
In 1969, it was sold to Pott Industries, St. Louis, Missouri.
In 1970, it was sold to Hines, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In 1989, it was sold to McBride Towing Co., Harrods Creek, Kentucky.
In 2005, the boat was renamed "Danny McBride."

In 1948, Butcher-Arthur had six very similar boats built by St. Louis Shipbuilding and Steel and all were named for famous historical characters: Davy Crockett, Meriwether Lewis, Sam Houston, Samuel Clemens, Stephen Foster and William Clark.
