Deutsch: Walther Dobbertin war ein deutscher Fotograf. Dobbertin wanderte 1903 nach Deutsch-Ostafrika aus, wärend des ersten Weltkrieges war er der einzige deutsche Fotograf der die Geschehnisse auf deutscher Seite dokumentierte. Nach der Kriegsgefangenschaft kehrte er nach Deutschland zurück, seine Arbeiten wurden von seiner Frau vor der Enteignung gerettet. 1932 veröffentlichte er eine Sammlung verherrlichender Soldatenportraits aus der deutsch-ostafrikanischen Kolonialzeit.
English: Walther Dobbertin was a German photographer who is most famous for his photographs of German East Africa where he emigrated in 1903. Dobbertin is the only german photographer who covered the East African Campaign of World War I. After leaving captivity as a prisoner of war Dobbertin settled to germany. Most of his works were rescued from expropriation by his wife. In 1932 Dobbertin publishes a collection of glorifying portraits of german colonial soldiers.
