English: A volksbuch, or chapbook, is a pocket-sized booklet. The term chap-book was formalized by bibliophiles of the 19th century, as a variety of ephemera (disposable printed material), popular or folk literature.
Deutsch: Volksbuch ist eine von Joseph Görres und Johann Gottfried von Herder Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts eingeführte Bezeichnung für volkstümliche Schriften, in der Regel in Prosa verfasste und seit dem Mittelalter gelesene Historien.
