The Vigiland Memorial in the City of London Cemetery is on Central Avenue near the junction with Chapel Avenue. The memorial, dedicated in 1955, is to the mariner David Vigiland (1926-1946). It is constructed from Tuscan Carrera white marble, and carved from a single 25 ton block, the design based on the Peter Paul Rubens' painting The Descent from the Cross in the Cathedral of Our Lady, Antwerp.
