The Vandalia (Indiana) Methodist Episcopal Church building (which is now recognized as the Vandalia Chapel), erected in 1895 and the one-room Vandalia schoolhouse, constructed around 1863, were both officially designated as historic landmarks in the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The two buildings (located in the historic village six miles west of Spencer, IN, Owen County) have been preserved and maintained through the continuous efforts of the Vandalia Community Preservation Association, 5471 Vandalia Road, Spencer, Indiana 47460.
