English: Víctor Grau-Bassas (Barcelona, 1847 – Argentina, 1918). Doctor in medicine in the second half of the 19th century, he was the first person of scientific mind to explore Malaga and Gran Canaria and left detailed accounts of his discoveries as well as accurate drawings of various sights and locations. As curator of the Museo Canario which he co-founded, he directed several expeditions to collect materials in order to improve diversity in the museum’s exhibitions.
