The first section connected U.S. Route 6 (Utah State Route 27) in Delta with Interstate 15 (I-15), northeast of Holden. The second section connected the first section (north of Holden) with I-15 (south of Holden). The third section connected I-15 in Scipio with Utah State Route 24 in Salina. (The first section was also previously designated as part of a former SR-26 that was decommissioned in 1969.)
