English: Originally built in 1889 for Seattle capitalist Martin Van Buren Stacy and his wife Elizabeth. This was his third residence in four years, though he would spend very little time in the home with his wife, choosing to live out of nearby hotels and gentlemen's clubs instead. The mansion was purchased by Lyman Colt in 1901, who leased it to current tenant the University Club. They would build the additions onto the Madison Avenue side of the house the following year.
